Butterfly Kisses Valentine Card

Kids love to give butterfly kisses (a flutter of eyelashes against a cheek). This cute and easy butterfly-inspired card is a great way to send a Valentine kiss to a grandparent or caregiver.
What you'll need:
- White cardstock cut to 5 ½” x 8 1/2”
- Scraps of patterned pink paper
- Scrap of patterned brown paper
- Pink cardstock
- Black or brown fine-tip marker
- Adhesive such as double-sided sticky tape, glue stick, liquid glue or mini glue dots
- Scissors
How to make it:
- Fold white cardstock in half.
- Use your scissors to freehand cut two teardrop-shaped pieces, about 2 inches long, from the pink patterned paper. These are the top wings of the butterfly.
- Use your scissors to freehand cut two more teardrop-shaped pieces, about 1.5 inches long, from the pink patterned paper. These are the bottom wings of the butterfly.
- Use your scissors to freehand cut a strip of brown patterned paper, about 2 ¼ inches long. Round one end and make the other end pointed. This is the body of your butterfly.
- Glue the teardrop pieces to the white cardstock, pointy side to the middle. Glue the body over top of the wings.
- Use the fine-tip marker to draw curly antennae.
- Stamp, write or print off “Sending you butterfly kisses on Valentine's Day!” on the pink cardstock. Cut out and glue to the white cardstock on an angle.
Tips:
- Chose white cardstock with a bit of fleck pattern to it—it's more interesting than plain white cardstock.
- Keep an eye out for different sources of paper and cardstock. For example, the patterned paper of the butterfly is actually from a magazine ad (printed on a card like a magazine subscription card) that shows the new tweed patterns of a widely available pair of canvas tennis shoes.
- Thinner cardstock (which is also less expensive) tends to work better in home printers. Look for it at office supply stores.
- To give the feeling of a fluttering butterfly, choose a font that has the letters following a wave pattern, rather than a straight line.
Quick switch This card could easily be made into a birthday card by simply changing the message. Have fun experimenting with different paper colors too.

What you'll need:
- Cereal box
- Construction paper: red, blue, white and pink
- Glitter glue: blue, pink, purple, orange, red
- White craft glue
- Scissors
- Heart-shaped cookie cutter (optional)
- Heart-shaped craft foam
How to make it:
- Cut cereal box in half, keeping the bottom half. Reserve the remaining cardboard for another project.
- Cover the entire box with red construction paper using white craft glue.
- Trace cookie cutters, or draw freehand, to create hearts from blue, white and pink construction paper. You will need two of each color for a total of six.
- Use glitter glue to write short phrases or acronyms on the hearts. Some examples might include "kiss me," "BFF (best friends forever)," "luv you," "hug me," "be mine," and "cutie."
- Allow the glitter glue to dry completely, this can take several hours.
- Glue three hearts, one of each color, to one side of the box, overlapping the hearts, tops of the hearts should stick out above the top of the box. (See image 1 and image 2.) Repeat on the other side.
- Glue foam hearts to the sides of the box. (See image.)
Tips:
- Craft foam is available in sheets or in packs of precut shapes.
- Save cardboard snack and cereal boxes for hundreds of different craft projects!
- Buy construction paper in large variety packs to have on hand for impromptu projects.
Pensando no Dia de S.Valentim...
Puffy Heart

This fun craft project is perfect for the classroom setting. Few supplies are needed and it can be altered for younger age groups.

What you'll need:
- Pink and white tissue paper, cut into 1” squares
- White craft glue
- Scissors
- Piece of card stock or construction paper
- Pencil with an eraser
How to make it:
- Cut out a heart shape from the construction paper or card stock.
- Put white craft glue into the center of the heart, shaped like a heart.
- Using the eraser end of a pencil, place the eraser into the center of a white tissue paper square. Twist the tissue paper square around the eraser and dot it onto the glue. Continue this process until entire middle of the heart is covered with white tissue paper. See photo.
- Repeat the process from step #3 with pink tissue paper for the border of the heart.
- Glue a hanger to the back if you like.
Tips:
- For younger kids who have trouble working the pencil steps, allow them to wad up the tissue paper squares and press them directly onto the glue with their fingers.
- Instead of a hanger, try gluing a magnet strip to the back and hang on your fridge!
- Always saved the tissue paper from birthday gifts for craft projects like these.

Flores em Origami
The Japanese word kusudama comes from two Japanese words kusuri (Medicine) and tama (Ball) They were often used with incense of potpourri. These days they are used more as decorative gifts.
Kusudama origami flowers are generally assembled into a large spherical shape. In today’s lesson we will be making a single flower. If you make another 11 of these, you can assemble them into a traditional kusudama ball. The flowers that make up the kusudama are beautiful in their own right. I was recently commissioned to fold over 200 of these flowers for the Honda stand at the Melbourne motor show. The flowers proved so popular that by the second day of the 14 day event a security guard was required to stop them all from disappearing even thought they were behind a persex shield. Thankfully they are fairly simple to make and I had help from a very good friend making replacements.
What you will need
• 5 Small squares of paper (I used Post-it notes because they come in such beautiful colors)
• PVA Glue
• About 30 minutes of spare time.
1. Start with the sticky edge on the bottom right side.
Fold the bottom corner to the top to make a triangle.
2. Fold both bottom corners of the triangle to the top point to form a square.
3. Fold the top two layers of the square backwards as shown. It is important that you ensure the folded back edges line up with the edges of the square beneath.
4. Open the newly formed triangles.
Be careful with the sticky side not to tear the paper.
5. Fold the top triangles over so they are level with the edge of the paper.
These flaps should be seperated from the others layers.
6. Fold the triangles along the existing crease.
7. Add a small amount of glue to one side and attach to the other triangle.
8. Your glued petal should look like this.
9. Now follow steps 1-7 to fold four more.
10. Gluing the petals together is quite simple.
Make sure you let the glue dry before adding the next petal.
11. Completed flower.

| - inicie a confecção do chinelo dobrando o tecido pelo avesso - coloque os moldes do peito e da sola sobre o tecido e, com auxílio de uma caneta, trace o contorno  - contorne o tecido e corte. não é necessário deixar margem de costura, pois o molde já está incluído - com os mesmos procedimentos, cortar uma vez o molde do tecido do forro e nas espumas de 1cm e 2cm - costurar em "costura reta ou zig-zag", na parte de cima do peito do chinelo da seguinte forma: o forro, a espuma de 1 cm e o tecido  - corte a espuma de 2 cm (molde da espuma) e o eva para sola (molde da sola) - alfinete a sola da seguinte forma: o tecido, a espuma de 2 cm e o eva, achando o meio do peito do pé e da sola  - costurar em toda a volta.. é importante que as duas pontas da sola fique iguais  - costurar o viés no chinelo, pelo lado do eva da sola  - virar o viés para o lado do tecido e costurá-lo para dar o acabamento    - sobre o peito do pé do chinelo, pode ser feito: laço de fita colar ou colagem de uma aplicação  - se for utilizar o passa-fita, costurar, no momento do sanduíche do peito do pé, ficando da seguinte forma: o forro, a espuma de 1cm o tecido e o passa-fita * Zamy Baroni - Artesã Tel.: (11) 2281-8302 |

Começar o ano, reciclando!
Cachepol
Mais uma idéia de reciclagem, esse cachepol todo de canudos de jornal é excelente para colocar pequenos arranjos de flores ou servir de porta-treco
.
Materiais: 1 vaso de plástico nº2 para molde; canudos de jornal; pincel; cola; tesoura e palito de churrasco.
Canudos de jornal: clique aqui e veja como fazer.
Execução:
1 - Separe 9 canudos. Coloque 5 canudos paralelos na horizontal e segure-os com a mão esquerda. Levante o 1º, o 3º e o 5º e coloque outro canudo na vertical, embaixo dos canudos levantados;
2- Abaixe os canudos e levante o 2º e o 4º canudos. Coloque outro canudo embaixo e abaixe-os;
3 - Levante novamente o 1º o 2º e o 3º canudos e coloque outro na vertical. Proceda assim até colocar 4 canudos na vertical;
4 - Comece a trançar levantando o 1º canudo e passando por cima do 2º canudo, por baixo do 3º, por cima do 4º canudo. Quando terminar o canudo, encaixe outro na extremidade. Continue trançando até a base ficar do tamanho da base do vaso molde. emende quantos canudos forem necessários;
5 - Coloque o vaso molde sobre a base do cachepol. Deixe que o vaso molde fique bem pesado, colocando pedras ou um saquinho de areia dentro. Continue trançando da mesma forma. Conforme você trança, os canudos vão subindo. Continue trançando até o trabalho alcançar a borda do vaso;
6 - Segure a ponta do canudo que estava trançando;
7 - Faça um caminho com o palito de churrasco na trama ao lado e encaixe o canudo a ser arrematado;
8 - Corte a ponta excedente do canudo;
9 - Arremate as pontas de todos os canudos trançados e corte o excedente.
